How to customize language settings and display

You can change your wallet's language, theme, and account icons within settings. On Extension, you can also switch from the default side panel view to a popup if preferred.

Language​

  • Click the menu icon in the top right and navigate to 'Settings'
  • Select 'Preferences and display'
  • Choose your preferred language from the language dropdown menu

Theme​

  • Click the menu icon in the top right and navigate to 'Settings'
  • Select 'Preferences and display'
  • Choose your preferred theme from the dropdown menu: dark, light, or system

Account icon​

Your account icon is the small visual identifier shown next to each account. MetaMask offers three styles to choose from:

  • Polycons: modern, geometric shapes
  • Jazzicons: colorful, abstract geometric shapes
  • Blockies: pixel art icons, a classic early Ethereum style
  • Click the menu icon in the top right and navigate to 'Settings'
  • Select 'Preferences and display'
  • Select your preferred style under the 'Account icon' section

Side panel or popup​

By default, MetaMask Extension opens as a side panel docked to the side of your browser. If you prefer the traditional popup window, you can switch at any time.

  • Click the menu icon in the top right and select 'Switch to popup'
  • To switch back to side panel, simply click the menu icon again and select 'Switch to side panel'
